The hub of the Duck is without doubt the bar, wide oak floorboards run the length of the room, as do the old oak beams hung with hops from Kent, that are replaced each year when the new fresh "pockets" arrive. Chalkboards, sketches, prints, enamel signs, these all contribute, along with candlelight and log fire to the atmosphere, making it the heart of the Inn.
Seating is on old oak settles with covers made from local Herdwick wool or on leather tub chairs. The bar top is made from beautiful Brathay Black Slate that was quarried less than a mile away at Brathay Quarry. We have a wide selection of beers including several of our own, wines by the glass and Champagnes.
